Hi
Thank you very much for being a subscriber to our newsletter. We hope your year has got off to a great start and that you enjoy this latest update.
what we’ve been up to!
Towards the end of last year, we travelled to Nuneaton for an all day demo at the Axminster store, and the last of the 2019 Axminster Tools & Machinery demo tour dates. It was great to get round all the stores again and meet so many of you - thank you for coming along.
We also spent three busy days at the Harrogate North of England Woodworking & Power Tool Show as guests of Tormek and BriMarc, and had an amazing time with Pontus, Clive and Megan, and all of the Axminster team there.
We had a trip back to Devon to visit Axminster HQ (more news about that soon) and for an additional demo in the retail store. Our last demo of the year was more local - Red Rose Woodturning Club.
We’re very grateful to you all for your continued support and for spending time with us at our demos, and to all the woodturning clubs across the UK who have asked us to visit them.
the big 5-0
Chris celebrated his 50th birthday in November. Thank you for all your wonderful birthday wishes and messages.
Although it was a low key affair, Chris was over the moon with his birthday present - a specially commissioned Viking sunset bowl from his hero, Nick Agar, who generously gifted part of the bowl too.
more big news …
In January, Chris’ appointment as Patron for UK Men’s Sheds Association was announced. We were approached at Harrogate by Charlie Bethel and Chris was thrilled to be asked to be involved as Patron. We’re looking forward to what this year will bring and hope to meet many of the people who attend a shed in their local area.
meeting Matthew’s parents and family
At Christmas we were visited by Matthew and his family - his parents Ivy and Johnny, and his brother, Terry - who were over from Hong Kong. It was wonderful to get to know them a little and hear how proud they are of Matthew.
This is one of the most recent videos that Matthew has filmed and edited for Chris. It’s the Blind Woodturner’s take on the Holy Grail from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
what’s next
We spent a few hours with Tameside Radio this week for a feature called Business Link. Chris’ episode is now live. You can listen to the podcast here.
On 8th February, we are looking forward to being back at British Hardwoods in Keighley for their Open Day. Chris will be demonstrating throughout the day. It’s a great event and there will be an amazing selection of timber to choose from.
We will be starting the 2020 Axminster Tools & Machinery demo tour in the Warrington store on 22nd February.
We look forward to catching up with you again this year on our travels.
Thanks for reading and subscribing to our newsletter.
Have a great February. Keep on turning!
Chris, Nicola and Bamber
